LearnSafe YouTube Guard Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 24, 2026

LearnSafe YouTube Guard is a Chrome extension that helps parents, teachers, tutors, and homeschool families keep YouTube focused on approved or educational videos. Filtering runs locally inside the user's browser.

Data the Extension Handles

LearnSafe handles the following data only to provide its YouTube filtering features:

How Data Is Used

The extension uses this data to decide whether visible YouTube pages, videos, channels, recommendations, Shorts, or search results should be allowed, hidden, blocked, or redirected according to the parent-managed settings.

LearnSafe does not use this data for advertising, analytics, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose.

Local Storage

Settings, approved channels, filtering terms, recent block counts, and the salted parent PIN hash are stored through Chrome storage. These settings are used so the same parent-managed rules can apply across YouTube pages.

Data Collection and Sharing

LearnSafe does not collect, sell, rent, transmit, or share user data with the developer or third parties.

LearnSafe does not collect or transmit:

Remote Services

LearnSafe does not call remote servers and does not load remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. All extension code is included in the submitted Chrome extension package.

If a future version adds analytics, billing, server-side classification, remote syncing, or any other remote service, this policy will be updated before release.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

LearnSafe YouTube Guard's use of information received from Chrome extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
